The Black Hawk County Fair Board invites the community to join in the fun at the Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair, scheduled for July 23 - 27 at the National Cattle Congress, 257 Ansborough Avenue in Waterloo, Iowa.  The event is free and open to the public.  Free parking is available on Cattle Congress grounds.

The Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fair highlights work of 4-H youth and FFA in the county.  Exhibits and project entries include livestock and non-livestock projects from youth ages 5 years and older.
The fair features traditional livestock shows, including beef, swine, sheep, and dairy and small animal shows, including dog agility, poultry, llama and horse. Hundreds of non-livestock entries in these project areas: child development, clothing, food & nutrition, home improvement, horticulture, personal development, science & engineering and visual arts.
Friday is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Day!  Many hands-on demonstrations are planned.  More on this coming!
4-H is a national-wide organization with chapters throughout the nation for all youth.  Iowa 4-H builds on a century of experiences that fosters positive youth development and empowers youth to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.  In Black Hawk County, youth ages kindergarten through 3rd grade participate in Clover Kids.  Programming is delivered as 4-H afterschool, Clover Kids Groups, or day/week summer camps.  Youth in grades 4 through 12 participate in 4-H afterschool or 4-H clubs.

Iowa 4-H follows the principles of experiential learning, and draws on the knowledge base of Iowa State University and other institutions of higher education in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture. The Iowa 4-H Program’s vision and mission statements clearly view youth as partners working with staff and volunteers, and as full participants in planning and working for individual and community change.
