Extension Council

The Extension Council is the county governing body of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Council members hire county staff, manage the county extension budget, and help determine programming, said Kevin Sittig, retiring Extension Council Chairperson. The county extension office is located at 3420 University Avenue, Suite B in Waterloo and a secondary location at the Dick Young Greenhouse, located at George Washington Carver Academy, 1505 Logan Avenue in Waterloo.

County Extension Councils bring research-based programs in human sciences, agriculture and natural resources, 4-H youth development, and community and economic development from Iowa State University to local communities. Council members and some 17,000 Iowa volunteers work with ISU Extension and Outreach to increase the staying power. Through partnerships, they provide resources, research and education to assist Iowans.

ISU Extension and Outreach has 100 field offices, providing local access to extension programs in all 99 counties. For more information, visit www.extension.iastate.edu or contact the Extension and Outreach Office at 319-234-6811.

Meetings are at 6:30pm in the ISU Room
