URBANDALE, Iowa -- Beginning Farmer Center Interim Director is located at the Beginning Farmer Center, Urbandale, Iowa. David received his MBA in Business Management from Southwest Minnesota University in 2004. He received his BS in Facility Management from Troy University in 1979. He joined the ISU Extension and Outreach staff in May of 2006 as the Farm Transition Specialist with the Beginning Farmer Center. Dave was named the Director for the Beginning Farmer Center January 2018. Prior to joining ISU Extension and Outreach, David has owned and managed a farm operation in Northwest Iowa consisting of corn, soybeans, hay, cattle, hogs, and poultry. He has had off-farm experience as a contract administrator for DJW Transfer Services and Citation Homes, Inc.

David's community involvement includes church board, Chairman of Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Board, Dickinson County Farm Bureau Board, Value-added Agriculture Committee, and Dickinson County Courthouse Advisory Committee. David and his wife Cindy have two children Amy Jo and Michael (wife Stacie) and 5 grandchildren.

David assists in meeting the BFC objectives by actively promoting the Center at conventions, trade shows, and commodity organized events. He is available to coordinate the educational programs and services for those wishing to pursue a career in farming. David will be the key contact for those individuals wishing to pass on their farm operations to the next generation of farmers and ranchers.
