“We are excited to be playing at the beautiful historic Hyperion Field Club in Johnston for the first time in the tournament’s history,” said Paul Kruse, Central Iowa Golf Tournament committee chair.
At the tournament, participants will have the opportunity to compete in a best ball tournament with chances to win team and individual prizes. Troy Dannen, director of athletics at the University of Northern Iowa, will serve as the celebrity golfer for the event. An evening social and auction benefit will follow the golf outing.
“The auction immediately following play includes some fantastic vacation packages including a trip to New York, numerous sports packages and many other great items, all benefitting the Iowa 4-H Foundation,” Kruse said.
The central Iowa outing is sponsored by Iowa Farm Bureau, John Deere, Firestone Ag Tires, Pioneer and Successful Farming.
“The central outing has had great success year after year because of the loyalty of our participants,” said Albert Grunenwald, chief operating officer for the Iowa 4-H Foundation. “We have 15 companies who are members of our 10-Year Sponsor Club, and we add new members every year.”
There are still a few openings for teams as well as sponsors, Grunenwald said.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation provides financial resources for youth development through 4-H. The 4-H Foundation also provides funds for overall support of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H Youth Development Program, helping support volunteer recruitment and training, marketing and promotions for membership recruitment and the creation of new program partnerships, and support for program leadership, strategic planning and endowments for the future.
