4-H Center Spring Volunteer Day Is April 27

MADRID, Iowa — The Iowa 4-H Center is seeking volunteers to help spruce up the camping center on Spring Volunteer Day April 27.

Projects for all ages and skill levels are available. Volunteers may sign up for projects of their choice at the continental breakfast in Linden Lodge at 8 a.m. the day of the event. A box lunch will be provided for all volunteers. To register, call the Iowa 4-H Center at 515-795-3338.

The center’s volunteer day coincides with Global Youth Service Day, April 26-28, a weekend of service throughout the world.

“This is a great opportunity to participate in Global Youth Service Day and give some time and talent to the Iowa 4-H Center,” said Iowa 4-H Center intern Zoie Yetley. “Volunteers can expect to spend four to five hours at the center.”

“The projects vary from rebuilding a canoe rack to hiking and clearing trails,” said intern Phoebe Yetley, Zoie Yetley’s twin sister.

“Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty and feel free to bring any basic hand tools or power washers you have access to. Volunteers are welcome, rain or shine, and are invited to stay until their project is completed or their schedule permits,” Phoebe Yetley said.

The Iowa 4-H Center is located at 1991 Peach Ave., Madrid, Iowa. Driving directions are available from the Iowa 4-H Center website, http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/center/.
