4-H Center Hosts Spring Volunteer Day April 28

AMES, Iowa – Calling all volunteers. The Iowa 4-H Center is hosting a Spring Volunteer Day April 28 to spruce up the camping center and get it ready for another busy summer.

Projects for all ages and skill levels are available. Volunteers sign up for projects of their choice at the continental breakfast in Linden Lodge at 9 a.m. the day of the event. There are morning, afternoon and all-day shifts. A lunch will be provided for volunteers.

“Volunteers can do a variety of basic jobs like sweeping, raking, weeding and general clean-up,” said Iowa 4-H Center Manager John Roosa. “This year, in addition to the basic jobs, we have some special projects to complete: building more gaga ball pits, developing our camp garden and helping rebuild the swinging bridge, all of which will be enjoyed greatly by the campers for many years to come.”

Spring Volunteer Day is held rain or shine. Projects will continue until 3 p.m. The center will preview the movie Cars 2 following the volunteer day.

4-H clubs can spend Friday or Saturday night in Birch or Hickory Villages for $7 per person.

To register, call the camp office at 515-795-3338.
