Beef Cattle

The Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, serves as the university's extension program to cattle producers. Our center comprises a dedicated group of faculty and staff from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. We work together to develop and deliver the latest in research-based information to improve the profitability and vitality of Iowa's beef industry.

Dairy Cattle

Resources are made available for farm management and planning to help improve business management for dairy farms. The ISU Extension and Outreach Dairy Team also provides information on animal nutrition, quality management for the farm and environment as well as caring for dairy animals.


The Iowa Pork Industry Center was established in 1994 as a coordinated effort of the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. The center focuses efforts across departments and partners with other agencies and commercial entities to better serve the educational and informational needs of the industry. IPIC also focuses its efforts in programs that are integral and complementary to work by ISU Extension and Outreach. Through IPIC, Iowa producers receive accurate and timely information to aid in making their operations more efficient and profitable. Interdisciplinary programs with the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Business, Engineering and Veterinary Medicine are ongoing.

Poultry and Eggs

The mission of the Egg Industry Center is to add value to the egg industry by facilitating research and learning for egg producers, processors and consumers through national and international collaboration. The Egg Industry Center meets its research and outreach goals by leadership be creating efficiencies through coordination, identifying industry needs that can best be impacted through the Center, identifying and attracting funds to direct to high priorities to accomplish more effective problem-solving and communicating solutions to audiences throughout the egg industry and consuming public.


The Equine Science program strives to provide the very best for Iowa equestrians. Education and outreach is valued and focused on business management, selection and genetics, nutrition and heath of the horse and general equine care and husbandry.

Manure Management

Iowa Manure Management Action Group is a manure management and air quality group providing information on animal feeding operations. This group also provide Manure Applicator Certification (MAC) for the state of Iowa on partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Air Quality

The purpose of the Air Management Practices Assessment Tool (AMPAT) is to provide an objective overview of mitigation practices best suited to address odor, emissions and dust at your livestock operation so that livestock and poultry producers may compare and narrow their options of mitigation techniques.
