The Empowering Adair County Foundation (EACF) was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment projects in Adair County. It serves to enhance the quality of life for the seven incorporated communities and the unincorporated areas of Adair County. The Foundation is governed by nine committee members representing all areas of the county. The committee members are community minded individuals who have assessed community needs, can implement asset development, evaluate grant applications, encourage partnerships and initiate activities to enhance the county.
 
EACF is committed to improving the quality of life throughout Adair County by investing in area nonprofits through our grant programs and by providing individuals, families and area businesses who love our communities with a way to give back.
 
Grants are available to 501(c)3 organizations and government entities serving Adair County. Grant selections are made in an effort to create a better quality of life for people in Adair County. The local governing committee reviews the applications from charitable organizations serving their community.

Grant Cycle October 15, 2018, Recipients

 
EMPOWERING ADAIR COUNTY FOUNDATION AWARDED FUNDING FOR 15 PROJECTS TOTALING $102,577.68
 
Empowering Adair County Foundation (EACF) awarded funding for fifteen projects/programs for the grant cycle of 10-15-18. The following organizations received funding:

·       Adair County Fair Foundation – Project: Adair County Fairgrounds Campground Electrical Hookups Extension
·       Adair County ISU Extension – Project: Youth Hunger Project; Club House Wolverines After School Program
·       Adair Fire and Rescue – Project: New Gear Lockers
·       Adair Public Library – Project: Summer Library Programs
·       Boys & Girls Club of Central Southwest Iowa, Inc. – Project: Daily Stations Enhanced
·       City of Bridgewater – Project: Bridgewater Park Electrical System Improvement
·       City of Stuart -– Project: Stuart Waste Receptacles Project
·       Fontanelle Fire and Rescue – Project: Power Cot Purchase
·       Fontanelle Public Library – Project: Summer Library Programs
·       Greenfield Chamber/Mainstreet – Project: Wayfinding System
·       Greenfield Public Library – Project: Summer Library Programs
·       Iowa Aviation Museum – Project: Collecting and Recording Historical Information

Grant applications were scored and reviewed by the Empowering Adair County Foundation Committee members. Applications were scored on the following criteria: Completeness of Application; Benefit to Adair County Residents; Support of Entrepreneurial Activity, Community and Leadership Development; Identification of Community Needs; and Addressing Community Needs. The Committee’s recommendations were sent on to the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines for final approval of grant disbursements. 
 
Empowering Adair County Foundation (EACF) was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment and to enhance the quality of life for communities in Adair County. The Foundation is governed by a 9-member board representing all areas of Adair County.
 
EACF made new policy changes last year. There is one grant cycle annually with an October 15th application deadline. Other policy changes include a Six Month Progress Report which must be completed by all grant recipients within six months of receiving funds. Also, a Grant Final Report, along with completion of the project/program, must be submitted within twelve months. All Grant Final Reports must include photos of each project/program in progress and the completed result.
