2024 Adair County Fair. New Clover Kids projects. A Jungle of Opportunity.

Bucket Bottle Calf

The Clover Kids Bucket/Bottle Calf Show is a great way for K-3rd graders to gain experience in a non-competitive cattle project. To participate your Clover Kid must be enrolled in 4-H Online before May 15th. Clover Kids will not receive premiums but they will receive a participation award. Calves must be born after January 1, 2024 and be identified on 4-H Online by May 15th. They must be tagged prior to being entered in 4-H Online. Tags can be picked up at the Extension Office. Only one entry is allowed per exhibitor in this class. Calves must be in the possession of the Clover Kid before three weeks of age and must be bucket or bottle fed - not nursing, after three weeks. Calves will be shown on a halter. More information including fair stalling info will be available closer to fair time.

Bottle Lamb/Goat

The new Clover Kids Bottle Lamb/Goat Show is very similar to the Clover Kids Bucket Bottle Calf show. It allows K-3rd graders a chance to show their bottle lamb or goat at the fair in a non-competitive project that will give them experience for livestock shows in the future. To participate your Clover Kid must be enrolled in 4-H Online before May 15th. Clover Kids will not receive premiums, but they will receive participation ribbons. Only one entry per exhibitor is allowed for this class. Lambs and goats must be born between January 1-May 15, 2024, and must be in the Clover Kid’s possession and separated from the mother within 48 hours of birth. (No nursing after 48 hours.) Lambs and goats must be identified on 4-H Online by May 15th. They must be tagged prior to entry in 4-H Online. Tags can be picked up from the Extension Office. More information will come closer to the fair.

Rabbit Show

The Clover Kids Rabbit Show (previously the Kids Rabbit Show) is open to all enrolled Adair County Clover Kids! Rabbit/cavy do not need to be owned by the participant. The show is limited to one rabbit/cavy per child. Rabbits coming only for the Clover Kids Rabbit Show will be dismissed following the show. Only rabbits being shown in the 4-H/FFA Rabbit Show by an older exhibitor will be housed on the fairgrounds. Existing rules regarding health requirements must be met. Participants will receive participation ribbons (no fair premiums will be awarded). For more information and rules, please refer to the Adair County Fair Book.

Clothing Selection

The new Clothing Selection Event project for Clover Kids will give K-3rd graders a head start on learning about personal clothing preferences, communication skills and experience in making decisions through a clothing project. Participants will be asked to select an outfit to wear that is from their own wardrobe, borrowed, purchased, or a combination of these sources. Clover Kids will not receive premiums but will receive a participation ribbon for their showcase. To participate your Clover Kid must be enrolled on 4-H Online before May 15th. Entries must be submitted in Fair Entry by the June 17th fair entry deadline. The Clothing Event is scheduled to be held June 29th. Each child will need to fill out a half-sheet participation card prior to the event and bring it with them. At the event the card will be turned into the reviewer for a one-on-one conversation. The Clover Kids that participate in the Clothing Selection Event will have the opportunity to participate in the Style Show held during the county fair. This will take place on Thursday July 11th ant 7PM in the 4-H/FFA Center. More information will be made available closer to the fair.

*Tags are not yet available for Bucket Bottle Calves and Bottle Sheep/Goats. We will update the website and post on Facebook when the tags arrive and can be picked up at the office.
