Training in preparation for the test(s) is available from Iowa State University for both private and commercial applicators.
During the months of January through March, testing is conducted
at many locations throughout the state. The early year testing in
East-central and Southeast Iowa in 2020 follows. Testing hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (Neither early nor late distribution of tests is allowed.) During this time, there
will also be testing
done in other parts of the state (Adobe Acrobat
Reader is required.)

locations at community colleges do have a fee.

concerns with spreading COVID-19, IDALS testing in the foreseeable future has
changed and continues to change as conditions warrant.

Testing hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (Neither early nor late distribution of tests is allowed.) There are also opportunities elsewhere

Tests will be administered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (515-281-5601) on a first come first serve basis. Testing will be limited to the number of seats available.
1. Photo ID is required upon passing tets(s).
2. On occasion, it may be necessary to cancel or reschedule a testing date or site. Therefore, it is recommended that you confirm the testing date, time, and location prior to travel.

Appointments are necessary and there will be a $10.00 - $20.00, depending on location, fee payable to the college for all the exams an individual would take in a single sitting in addition to any certification fees. The fee at the Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm is $10 per test. Exam scores should be available within 24 hours. The sites are closed during holidays.
Tests are no longer available at the Pesticide Bureau office, Wallace Building, Des Moines, IA. This has been moved to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). DMACC charges a $20 fee per test. More information is available here.
