Connecting Learning & Living is the Iowa leader for the 1 million-dollar USDA People's Garden School Pilot Program titled, Healthy Gardens, Healthy Youth. The national team includes Washington State, Cornell, Iowa State, and Arkansas State University Extension Services.
This 4-H youth development guide is designed to strengthen skills in youth who may care for themselves and/or siblings during the afterschool hours. This publication is focused on youth who are home alone for limited time.
4-H Healthy Living Ambassadors work as a team, bringing wellness initiatives to communities across Iowa. Selected participants will be immersed in a community health and wellness learning experience addressing issues such as hunger and food insecurity, nutrition and physical health, and mental well-being.

$10 Meal Challenge – Create a balanced meal for a family of four that includes the recommended serving size of food from each of the five food groups totaling $10 or less.
Mindful Teen: From Surviving to Thriving is an engaging 6-session series about practical strategies to manage stress, difficult emotions, & help improve overall well-being, relationships, and performance in school, sports, the arts, & other daily activities.
We are excited to invite youth in grades 8-12 and an accompanying caring adult (parent, other adult relative, mentor, etc.) to take time for themselves, step away from the busyness of life, and join us for the THR!VE Mindfulness Retreat.
