Artist Next Door

Overview

The Artist Next Door program at the Iowa State Fair is an opportunity for aspiring artists, illustrators, and storytellers of all experience levels in grades 7-12 to learn drawing techniques. 

This year, youth will learn drawing techniques from Sonya Gau, a graduate from the Biological and Pre-Medical Illustration program at Iowa State University.

Sessions

August 12-16, 2019 at the 4-H Exhibits Building - Iowa State Fair Grounds (southwest corner of fairgrounds)

Morning session from 9:00-12:00
Afternoon session 1:00-4:00

All drawing supplies will be provided, and you can choose which sessions you'd like to attend when you register.

About the Artist Next Door - Sonya Gau

Sonya Gau is a Californian born/Iowan raised illustrator who graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biological and Pre-Medical Illustration. Her focus in her work is to blend the real world with the fantastic, by utilizing the skills she learned from her degree and blending them with her love of storytelling. She works in a mixture of digital and traditional medias, and dabbles in sculpting when she has the time.
