Angela Rieck-Hinz is the new extension field agronomist for north central Iowa. She brings expertise in crop production and protection to this position, which serves a nine-county area. Farmers, agribusiness and ag partners have worked with Rieck-Hinz in her previous Iowa State University Extension and Outreach position as coordinator for the Manure Applicator Certification Program the past 16 years.

Did you know that your pressure canner dial gauge needs to be checked for accurancy every year? To make sure that your canned foods are safe to eat,  register for our Dial Gauge Pressure Canner Testing.   Canner testing will be Thursday, July 24th, 9:30 am -12:00 pm at the Wright County Extension Office located at 2101st Street SW, Clarion. Cost is $3.00 per lid. To register call extension office at 515-532-3453.

AMES, Iowa – Parents naturally are concerned for their children’s safety, particularly when there is news of a child abduction that happens close to home. Finding the balance between emotions and the “teachable moment” as parents talk to their children is important, an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialist says.
