Get on board for the last “Farm to Fork” culinary tour of the season hosted by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach, Flavors of Northwest Iowa. Tour places near Sheldon, Sanborn and Inwood on Sept. 4.

Ash trees around Siouxland are dropping their leaves. The leaf drop is likely due to anthracnose.  Anthracnose is a common fungal disease of trees in Iowa. Woodbury County Extension office has received numerous calls this week from all over Siouxland about the problem.

Winter can be tough on Iowa’s trees and shrubs. Horticulturists with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach answer questions about the effect this winter’s frigid temperatures will have on fruit tree and landscape plants.

Local foods are making an economic impact in Iowa. In fact, sales of food produced in northwest Iowa added $312,441 to the local economy in 2012 as reported by eighteen farmers in the northwest region.
