Do you want to learn how to engage youth you are working with? Then this training is for you. The Siouxland Nonprofit Management Alliance is hosting a workshop for people who work with youth in kindergarten through twelfth grades. The training will be offered three times to accommodate the schedules of the workshop participants: Thursday, May 29 from 1-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 19 from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. All trainings will be held at the Bluffs Area Family Center located at 903 Topaz, Sergeant Bluff. Iowa State University (ISU) Extension Youth Field Specialists will train on the Experiential Learning Model, the very best method for teaching kids. Attendees will be divided into groups based on the ages of children he or she works with. There will be a training focusing on K– third grade youth, and a training focusing on youth in fourth through twelfth grades.
“Whether teaching specific content or a life skill, using the Experiential Learning Model will ensure that the message being taught will be remembered and understood,” said ISU Extension Youth Field Specialist Steph Anderson. “This training will be hands-on and dynamic, so come prepared to have fun while learning a great way to reach our kids.” Anyone who works with youth is invited to attend this activity-filled training.
Attendees will learn practical ways to work with children that is fun for them and can be provided at low cost to agencies. This will be especially beneficial to organizations that are planning summer programs.
