Midstates Community and Economic Development Conference Set for April 4, 2013

The annual Midstates Community and Economic Development Conference brings together community and business leaders, volunteers, professional developers, and elected officials from the three-state area to share their experiences and learn new ideas for community and rural development.

The Midstates Conference will be held Thursday, April 4 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Marina Inn, 4th and B Streets, South Sioux City, Neb.

The keynote presentation will be given by David Mann. David will show attendees how to Connect with Power. He will give leaders useful new ways to use advanced communication tools to engage their communities, while motivating them to use stories as a powerful way to share information. With his characteristic humor he’ll illuminate the secrets of presenting complex material with the ease of a conversation, how to use voice and body to get twice the results from half the words, and how to see beyond limitations. With examples drawn from artistic, legal, and technological fields, he’ll show how community leaders can bridge technical comprehension gaps by using images to support facts.
