A growing interest in alternative energy sources, sparked by soaring oil prices and the development of large wind farms in northwest Iowa, has raised many questions about wind and solar energy.  Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach in Woodbury and Plymouth Counties, along with other partner organizations, addressed these issues at the 2013 Wind and Solar Energy Conference that was held on  Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Sioux City Convention Center.  170 people attended the conference.  Below are some of the materials shared at the conference.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in cooperation with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will offer manure applicator certification workshops for dry/solid manure operators on seven different dates and locations in February.

Average Iowa farmland value is estimated to be $8,296 per acre, an increase of 23.7 percent from 2011, according to results of the Iowa Land Value Survey conducted in November. This is the third year in a row where values have increased more than 15 percent. The 2012 values are historical peaks.
