Just a few things I have to share with you.

Auction Baskets  This year all proceeds from the 2013 Scholarship Auction will go towards our Winneshiek County 4-H/FFA Scholarship Fund. This fund is used to offer educational scholarships for Winneshiek County 4-H and/or FFA members. We are planning to auction off items that represent the entire 4-H program. If your club would be interested in donating an item, please contact the Extension Office by June 15.

Breakfast on the Farm  We have received a request to help at the Annual Breakfast on the Farm on June 22 at the NICC Dairy Center. 4-H clubs have been asked to help clean up tables, take care of garbage, and wash trays. Would your club be interested in helping? If you could let me know soon if your club could help, even for a part of the time, I would really appreciate it.

Enrollment Update – as of 5/17/13

Enrollment Goal: 325 4-H Members

Current Members: 3004-H Members, 54 Clover Kids, 36 4-H Leaders

Club Programs for 2012-2013

Remember, club programs for the 2012-2013 club year are required and due to the Extension Office ASAP. Each year clubs are required to submit a copy of their yearly program to the Extension Office. Please include the time, location and a general description of the meeting.

Authorization Needed on 4-H Enrollments

It was recently discovered that an authorization box was not included in completing the 4hOnline enrollment process for the Iowa 4-H Program. Due to this error, we are asking each 4-H family to login to https://iowa.4honline.com to complete this authorization. It will only take a few minutes. Upon login, an authorization window will appear. Parents are asked to sign the form and click “I agree.” If you filled out a paper copy enrollment, please disregard this message as this step has already been completed. Iowa 4-H Youth Conference

Don’t forget to register for the upcoming Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. “Unmask Your Opportunities” and attend the conference from June 25-27, 2013 in Ames. Join over 1000 teenagers on the Iowa State University Campus for three full days of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities. Registration materials are available online at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/iowa4hyouthconferenceor at the Extension Office. Registrations are due online by Saturday, May 25.

4-H Highlights from the previous week(s):

4-H Photography Forms for Fair Exhibits

All Photography exhibits are required to have a 4-H Photography Exhibit Label attached to the photograph. There are three questions that members are asked to answer. Please attach the 4-H photography exhibit label to the photograph. No additional fair write-up is needed for photography exhibits.

FSQA Training Date Added

An additional FSQA training has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at the Danan Lansing Building. Please RSVP to the Winneshiek County Extension Office by the Friday, June 14 if you plan to attend.

FSQA Training Information

Mark your calendars now for our FSQA Trainings for 2013. 4-H members showing Beef, Dairy, Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, and Swine at the County Fair or State Fair will need to be FSQA certified. There are two options to get FSQA Certified: attend a training annually, or test out for a specific time frame. Members have the following options:

• Youth in grades 4 – 6 must attend the FSQA training every year to be certified.
• Youth in grades 7 – 9 will have the option of attending a training every year, or completing a test which will certify them until they reach the 10th grade.
• Youth in grades 10 – 12 will have the option of attending a training every year, or completing a test which will certify them until they turn 20.

FSQA Testing Information:

FSQA testing is available at the Extension Office during office hours. Please call at least one day in advance to schedule a test.

4-H Static Judging Day

This year our 4-H Static Exhibit Judging Day (non-livestock judging) has changed dates. Due to the 4th of July, our judging day will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013.
