Crop Market Outlook and 2013 Research Results Highlight the ISU Northeast Research Farm Annual Meeting
NASHUA – Grain Market Specialist, Chad Hart, and the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Wendy Wintersteen, to speak at the annual meeting of the Northeast Iowa Agricultural Experimental Association (NEIAEA) at the ISU Northeast Research Farm near Nashua.
The program will be on Wednesday, March 19 and will start at 9:30 a.m. with a Call to Order for the board meeting. Presentations from 10:00 a.m. to Noon include Wendy Wintersteen, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Ag Experiment Stations will update us on the ISU College of Agriculture. Chad Hart, ISU Extension Economist, will provide a crop marketing outlook as we head into 2014. Chad Ingels, Ag Watershed Specialist, will update information on the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy.
There will be a special program over the noon hour to commemorate Norman Borlaug’s great contributions and achievements in helping to end world hunger and celebrate his 100th birthday (March 25, 2014). After lunch, Ken Pecinovsky, Research Farm Superintendent, will present research results from the many farm trials conducted in 2013.
Provided free at the meeting is the 2013 Research Farm Report along with other publications. Lunch will be Dutch-Treat offered by the Riverton Lucky Clovers 4-H Club. Following lunch, the NEIAEA board of directors will meet.
The annual meeting is free and open to the public. The program is held at the Borlaug Learning Center on the ISU Northeast Research Farm near Nashua. Directions: From Nashua at the Jct of Hwy 218 (Exit 220) and Co. Rd. B60, go west on B60 1.1 miles to Windfall Ave., then south 1 mile to 290th St., then east 0.2 miles to the farm.
