Jerry and Martha Samuelson’s “Spring Creek Angus”
For an evening of information and fellowship & sharing
Sunday, August 3rd, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
Location: 1463 Spring Creek Road, Decorah, Iowa (Marty Samuelson) Approximately 10 miles Northeast of Decorah. You need to go to Locust, Iowa (Locust School-northeast of Decorah) which is at the intersection of county roads A26 and W38(Locust Road).
Directions: If you are coming from Decorah, you can pick up W38(Locust Rd.) in Decorah on College Drive (across from the north Casey Convenience Store). Follow W38 to the intersection of A26 and W38 which is Locust, IA. Go east on A26(Big Canoe Rd.) to the 1st road on the right, which is Sattre Ridge Road. Follow that to the 1st road on the right, which is Middle Sattre Road, and take that to the first left, which is Spring Creek Road. Go ¾ miles on Spring Creek Road to the 1st place on the right which is 1463, the location of the event.
Program:
1) A discussion of Ethanol by-products fitting economically into any size cow/calf program will be presented by Dale Thoreson, Iowa State Extension Specialist. Included in the discussion will be usage and storage of these by-products. A representative of Winneshiek Co-Op will also be available to answer questions.
2) Winneshiek Co-Op in cooperation with Dow Chemical will be presenting a program on thistle control.
3) Jerry Samuelson will inform us what he is doing at Spring Creek Angus.
4) An opportunity for breeders to share management practices they have successfully used.
