July 1, 2014

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offices across northeast Iowa are hosting farmland leasing meetings from July 30 through August 21 at selected locations. These meetings will address questions that land owners, tenants, or other interested individuals have about farmland leasing.

ISU Extension & Outreach will host a pasture walk near Garnavillo from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 at the Andy Schaefers’ dairy farm.

County Fairs are serving as the landscape to showcase the NE Iowa Food & Fitness Bike Blender! Youth and adults are using human power to pedal the bike to make tasty strawberry/banana fruit smoothies.  Watch for the bike blender in the next few weeks for the County Fairs! Join the bike blending-taste testing team in NE Iowa!

Farmers and landowners committed to protecting and conserving environmentally sensitive land may now sign up for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Additionally, retiring farmers enrolled in CRP could receive incentives to transfer a portion of their land to beginning, disadvantaged or veteran farmers through the Transition Incentives Program (TIP).
