4-H’ers Show Cyclone Spirit at Iowa State Women’s Basketball

AMES, Iowa — Nearly 700 Iowa 4-H youth, families and friends cheered on the Iowa State University Women’s Basketball team during 4-H Day at Hilton Coliseum.

“The Cyclones lost the Jan. 14 game to Texas A&M, but our 4-H’ers still had a great time cheering for the Cyclone women and visiting the Iowa State campus,” said Shelly Greving, Iowa 4-H Foundation marketing director. “4-H Day at Hilton is always a 4-H club and family friendly event. This year we even had three generations of the Christensen family from Audubon County participating.”

The fourth annual event attracted 4-H’ers from throughout the state, Greving said. The fun included a pregame tailgate dinner sponsored by the Iowa Pork Producers Association and a tour of the College of Human Sciences (CHS).

“CHS students led the walking tour on campus and 230 4-H’ers learned how their 4-H experiences can lead to careers in various areas of human sciences,” Greving said.

“Iowa State University Collegiate 4-H’ers also volunteered their time — checking in participants, handing out t-shirts and helping ensure that the event ran smoothly,” Greving added.

Collegiate 4-H’er Kayla Greiner took photos of the event, available from the Iowa 4-H flickr site.
