2014 Master Gardener Spring Garden Conference
The Iowa State University Extension Master Gardeners of West Pottawattamie County will hold the event at the Council Bluffs Senior Center, Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Cost is $30 if registered by March 21st or $40.00 if coming the day of the event and both include lunch and refreshments.
Thirteen different workshops will be offered by gardening experts from both Iowa and Nebraska. Those attending will chose five sessions, two in the morning and three held in the afternoon.
The day starts at 8:00 with coffee and light refreshments. Welcoming all is Cal Parrott, Master Gardener at West Pottawattamie County. Kelly D. Norris, Horticulture Manager at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden will take the audience on a journey “Dig This, Stylish Gardening for Savvy Gardeners.” Sessions then begin at 10:00 and continue throughout the day finishing up at 4:00 pm. Various venders will also display and sell new and interesting gardening items.
Workshops titles include: “Rustic Succulent Designs” by Alisa Roth, “Garden Plants: New & Heirloom” by Monica Wheeler, “Veggie Gardening” by Charles Bichel, “Success from Seeds” by Kenneth Cohrs, “Salads from the Garden” by Elaine Fenner, “What’s out There” by Earl Hallberg, RS, BCE, “Wildflower ID 101” by Joann Langabee, “Modern Plant Explorer” by Kelly D. Norris, “Preserving the Bounty” by Fran Parr, “Aronia Berries: Growing to Harvest and In-Between” by Andrew Pittz, “Your Personal Landscape” by Denny Schrock, Ph. D., “Show Stopping Plants” by Jordan Sherbondy, and “Worm Castings: Poofection” by Colin Wyatt.
Pre-registration is recommended, as seating is limited.
