Suppose you're at a store making a purchase and decide to pay by check, at least that's what you believe you're doing. The clerk asks you for a check that is completely filled out, partially filled out or even blank. The clerk then runs the check through a machine and hands the voided check back to you with your receipt. What just happened??

Iowa State Horticulture Society

The Iowa State Horticultural Society was founded in 1866 for the purpose of promoting and encouraging horticulture and its related interests in Iowa, through the collection and dissemination of information concerning production, marketing and utilization of horticultural and related crops. The ISHS is involved in promoting the horticulture industry as a means of diversifying agriculture in Iowa. ISHS also supports many commercial, noncommercial, and avocational interest groups throughout the state. Currently, the Iowa State Horticultural Society serves as an umbrella organization for 24 affiliated horticulture organizations that represent and promote specific sectors of horticulture, as well as many retail businesses across Iowa.

All Iowa State University alumni, students, ISU Master Gardeners, former 4-Hers and ISU fans were asked to help with a service project to honor the 150th anniversary of ISU. The project was helping with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday June 23rd to help build a home in Council Bluffs.
