Iowans have a chance to brush up on money management skills during Money Smart Week, April 18-25, 2015. Financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations and community groups are offering a full week of events designed to help Iowans of all ages better manage their finances.

Council Bluffs will host Smart Investing on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Council Bluffs Public Library, 400 Willow Ave.  Class orientation starts at 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Online course work then follows April 21 to May 19 and wrap-up session will be held on May 19 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  To reserve your spot call 712-323-7553, Ext. 132 or email cbplref@cbpl.lib.ia.us   This free course is taught by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialist.

What is Powerful Tools for Caregivers?
Caregiving is rewarding, but, let’s face it— caregiving also can be stressful—physically, emotionally, and financially. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a class designed to provide you, the family caregiver, with the skills you need to take care of yourself.  Sessions are every Wednesday for six weeks beginning May 20. Classes will be held The Center, 714 S. Main St. in Council Bluffs from 9:00 a.m. to11:30 a.m. There is no fee for the series but registration is requested before May 15 so handouts may be prepared. Participants receive a Caregiver Helpbook (a $30 value).

Master Gardeners of West Pottawattamie County offer $50.00 grants to classroom teachers to help provide horticulture education to Pottawattamie County students.  The grant will be used to purchase materials and related supplies for your classroom’s horticulture plans.
