Come join other 4-H SESS youth involved in Archery and Air Rifle in Southwest Iowa on Sunday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds in Avoca, Iowa for a Fun Match. We have two big objectives:  Meet other youth involved in 4-H SESS in SW Iowa and test some of your skills you have been learning at 4-H SESS Meetings and workouts through a fun competition. Learn how you can take part in this fun day of 4-H SESS Archery and Air Rifle.....

4-H Youth Committee:

The next Youth Committee Meeting will be Thursday, October 2 - Record Book Judging (no organized meeting). 5 p.m. - ???

The November Youth Committee Meeting will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 6;30 p.m.

Don't forget to fill out the YC application if you wish to be on the 2014-2015 Youth Committee/County Council.  Due October 1.

County Council:

There will be no October County Council meeting due to Record Book Judging.  Next meeting will be our yearly organizational meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.

All 4-H enrollments will now be submitted online at www.4honline.com Contact the Extension Office at 712-366-7070 or email jenvin@iastate.edu  if you have any more questions.  New families without a 4-H Online account can find a paper copy of the enrollment form hereNOTE: ENROLLMENT FOR 2014-2015 DOES NOT BEGIN IN 4H ONLINE UNTIL AFTER SEPTEMBER 15, 2014!

The paper enrollment form is only for NEW families.  All other families must enroll in their 4-H Online account at www.4honline.com

Statewide Resources

  • Provides opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use now and throughout their life, empowering them to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

  • Statewide updates posted each Thursday afternoon by the State 4-H Office. Check it out every week to keep up-to-date on events, grants, forms, fair info, and fun!

  • Every June, 1000 teenagers converge on the Iowa State University campus for 3 days of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities. If you've completed 8th-12th grade, you're eligible to attend. Non-4-H members are welcome.

  • Youth and teens can discover opportunities to be recognized for personal growth, project learning, leadership and citizenship. 

  • Clover Kids is a FUN 4-H program for children in kindergarten through third grade. Children participate in hands-on activities designed to build many life skills!

  • Takes service to the next level. It builds civic skills, improves social behavior, increases youth engagement, strengthens communities and improves academic achievement.

  • Addresses youths’ basic needs through the eight essential elements: caring adults, safe environments, inclusive settings, and opportunities for mastery, service, self-determination, planning for the future and engaged learning.

  • Provides financial resources to develop and deliver quality 4-H youth programs and opportunities throughout the state of Iowa.

  • An ideal year-round getaway for families, corporate retreats, team-building experiences, 4-H clubs and more, situated on 1,100 acres of wooded bluff and native prairie in the heart of Iowa's Des Moines River Valley near Madrid.
