Meeting Minutes - 06/23/08

 The June meeting was held at the Webster County Extension Office on June 23 at 7:00 pm.  It was called to order by Vice President, Sarah Rockow. The roll call was taken by stating your name and what exhibits you are bringing to the fair. It was answered by 19 members and 2 leaders.  Old business discussed was that our club received $530.52 from working the food stand at the dog show and the Frontiers Day Parade,  New business discussed was about dates for the Back to School Bash, the sign up sheet for working in the 4H building on July 12, copyright guidelines, date for county educational presentations and clothing selection, ideas for the fair booth and dates for completing and setting up at the fair were discussed by the fair booth committee, and selling tickets for the band performing at the county fair, The Black Hawks. There was also a bill for $31.54.  Presentations were given by Danny Malinger on Coin Collecting, Amy Edge on Sunburn and Safety, Ashley Edge on Walt Disney, Breann Seastrand on Apples, Kelsey Albrecht on Hamsters, Kailyn Ekstrom on the Violin, Kim Sande on her horse, Melody, Megan Metier on Clothes Design, Hope Huggins on Lance Armstrong, Taylor Hintch on Food Allergies, Matthew Ekstrom on Taking Care of Cats, Emily Garst on her Minneapolis trip, Matt Delaney on his sister, and Sarah Rockow on How to Give a Proper Interview.     

 

Meeting Minutes - 05/12/08
The Douglas Dreamers 4-H Club held their May meeting on May 12, 2008, at the Webster County Extension Office. This meeting was our Mother’s Day meeting. Roll call was taken by stating what your favorite birthday cake is and introducing your mom.  Roll was answered by 21 members and 3 leaders. Old business that was discussed was about the April 19th food stand.  Committee reports were given for the Frontier Day Parade and County Fair Booth. New business that was discussed was about queen candidates for the fair and the AKC Dog Show food stand.  Leaders reviewed fair packet information and fair books and discussed guidelines to exhibit at county fair.  We also gave our senior members, Katie Carnelley, Laura Frad, and Justine McCrea gifts. Presentations were given by Maric Salocker on Recycling, Katie Carnelley on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, Kaela Gollob on Koalas, and Emily Mallinger on her state history presentation.     


Meeting Minutes - 04/05/08
The April meeting of the Douglas Dreamers was held at the Extension office on April 5th. This meeting was the dad’s meeting. The activity we did was robotics which meant the parents that were there worked with their 4-Her to build a robot that could go forward and backward. The meeting was called to order by President, Laura Frad. The roll call was answered by 24 members.  New business that was discussed was the food stand, Fort Dodge Labs event, nominating a queen and king candidate for the fair, id sheets, and the Omaha Zoo trip. Presentations were given by Laura Frad on golf and Cassandra Plagge on constellations. The hosts for the meeting were Breanne Pingle, Danny and Emily Mallinger, and Emily Garst.

 

Meeting Minutes - 03/08/08

The March meeting of the Douglas Dreamers was held on March 8th at Friendship Haven. The meeting was called to order at 11:45 by President, Laura Frad. The roll call question was what your favorite candy is and was answered by all members and one leader present. Old business discussed was that each member needs to attend five club meetings and participate in one club community service event in order to show exhibits at the county fair. New business that was discussed was 4-Hers for 4-H, Back to School Bash, membership fees, publication/insurance bill of $2 for each 4-her, $620 of membership fees, and the Fort Dodge Labs event. Presentations were given by Danielle Border on Medieval clothing and Breanna Seastrand gave her presentation on apples. The activity for this meeting was our Friendship Haven visit where members played bingo with the residents, introduced each other and ate together.       

 

Meeting Minutes - 02/16/08

The Douglas Dreamers February 4-H Club meeting was held on February 16, 2008, at La’ James International College.  The meeting was called to order by the President, Laura Frad. Roll call was taken by asking what your favorite candy is. Roll call was answered by 25 members, two leaders, and two guests. The Secretary’s report was read by Katie Carnally. Justine McCrea gave the Treasurer’s report. There were no committee reports given. Old business that was discussed was project meetings, county interviews, and snow tubing. New business that was discussed was 4-H Fun Day to be held on Sunday February 24th Fuller Hall in Webster City, committees, and the Friendship Haven visit at our March meeting. Presentations were given by Meghan Metier on designing clothes, Matthew Schott on Elvis Presley, and Kelsey Schott on the difference of baking cookies with leavening agents. The hosts for this meeting were Sara Rockow, Breann Seastrand, Sophia Newman, and Maric Salocker.  The activity for this meeting was getting your hair or nails done by a La’ James student or playing a game.  Maric Salocker led the group in recreation.

 

Meeting Minutes - 01/26/08

The Douglas Dreamers January 4-H Club meeting was held on January 26, 2008 at the Extension Office. The meeting was called to order by the president, Laura Frad, at 9:30 am. Roll call for this month was taken by asking what our favorite movie was. Roll call was answered by 26 members and 1 leader. The treasurer’s report was given by Justine McCrea; no secretary report was given. Old business discussed was about bell ringing at Wal-Mart. New business discussed was regarding county interviews, club T-shirts, Lajames club activity; what the boys would do while the girls are getting their nails or hair done and if the club would help pay part of the cost of the activity, Iowa Promise Grant, and current bills. Presentations were given by Kristen Delaney on 4-H National Congress and Breanna Pingle on How to Take Care of your Dog. The recreation for this meeting was going snow tubing in Boone.

 

Meeting Minutes - 11/05/07

The Douglas Dreamers had their annual family potluck at the Webster County Extension Office on Monday, November 5.  New officers were installed by county council members Austin Anderson and Thomas McLoughlin.  Officers for 2007-2008 will be: President Laura Frad, Vice President Sara Rockow, Secretary Hillary Hotz, Correspondence Secretary Amy Edge, Treasurer Justine McCrea, Reporter Ashley Edge, Photographers Emily Garst and Kim Sande, Recreation leaders Hope Hugghins, Maric Salocker, Cassandra Plagge and Historians Danielle Border, Breanna Pingel and Kelsey Schott.  Council members also installed new members which included Mathieu Ekstrom, Jason Pingel, Danny Mallinger, Matt Schott, Emily Mallinger and Veronica Cappas.   This past year’s historians Hope Hugghins and Kelsey Albrecht told about the year and what they did as historians.  100 % Attendance certificates were given to: Alayne Beshey,Amy Edge,Laura Frad,Emily Garst and Sara Rockow.  Outstanding record books: Emily Garst, Kelsey Albrecht, Kim Sande, Katie Carnelley, Brianna Pingel, Danielle Border , Sara Rockow, Cassandra Plagge and Maric Salocker.  Graduating seniors Katie Carnelley, Justine McCrea and Laura Frad told about their 4H experiences.  Leaders Linda Cline, Deb Rockow and Deb Allard reviewed the year and thanked the parents for their support.  The last award of the night was given to Amy Edge as Outstanding Douglas Dreamers Member. 

 

Meeting Minutes - 09/16/07

On September 16th the Douglas Dreamers held their meeting at the Fort Museum. The meeting was called to order by President Sara Rockow. Roll was answered by 20 members and several guests. There was no secretary’s report and the Treasurers report was given by Kim Sande. A committee report was given on the Sate Fair by Danielle Border.  Members turned in their record books at this meeting.  New business discussed was 4-H Week, and the October Meeting with the Badger Builders. President Sara Rockow read the newsletter. Presentations were given by Breanna Pingle and Kelsey Albrecht. Club officers were also elected at this meeting.  New officers are:  President – Laura Frad; V. Pres – Sara Rockow; Secretary – Hillary Hotz; Correspondence Secretary – Amy Edge; Treasurer – Justine McCrea; Reporter – Ashley Edge; Photographer – Emily Garst & Kim Sande; Historians – Danielle Border, Breanna Pingel, & Kelsey Schott; Recreation – Hope Hughins, Maric Salocker, & Cassandra Plagge.  Following the meeting, Roy and Sandy Chase, volunteers of the Fort Museum, gave the club a tour.
