Twilight Vegetable Farm Tour
May 29, 2015

Iowa State University  Webster County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Fort Dodge Twilight Vegetable Farm Tour on  Monday June 22nd, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the office (217 South 25th St., Ste. C12, Fort Dodge).  Joe Hannon, ISU Extension & Outreach Commercial Horticulture Specialist, will introduce himself, his services, and review the 2015 production season thus far.  We will then proceed to a local vegetable farm to tour.

The Webster Co. 4-H/FFA will be having an Open Horse Show on Saturday, June 27th (rain or shine), at the Webster Co. Fairgrounds (south of Fort Dodge on Hwy. 169)  All exhibitors practicing and in mounted classes must wear American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and Safety Engineering Institute (SEI) approved headgear with chin strap and properly fitted harness.

Kanawha Research Farm

Crop management, nitrogen management and crops grown for an energy source will highlight the summer field day of the Iowa State University Northern Research and Demonstration Farm.  The field day will take place June 25, at the farm’s north location. The address is 310 S. Main St., 
Kanawha, immediately south of town.

Creating energy efficient healthy homes brings forward concepts which can be applied to any home (in-town or on an acreage) or any occupied building space.  Advanced energy efficiency construction practices, that make homes, facilities, & buildings more efficient, affordable, comfortable, and healthy, are a distinct possibility now.  This workshop will give you a chance to evaluate energy efficiency of your occupied building/home construction today and explore the potential for the future.

Fairs, livestock auctions, swap meet and exotic sales will not include birds. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship today announced an order to cancel all live bird exhibitions at county fairs, the Iowa State Fair and other gatherings of birds due to avian influenza.
