Citizenship Washington Focus
August 26, 2015

WANTED:  4-H members currently in 10th - 12th grades.  We have the trip you have been waiting for - the 2016 Citizenship Washington Focus trip!  Webster, Hamilton, Humboldt, Hardin & Wright counties team up for this one in a lifetime trip to the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  This is an outstanding opportunity and a great way to meet new friends from across the country.

Cover crops, Sudden Death Syndrome of soybean, and fall fertilizer decisions will highlight the fall field day of the Iowa State University Northern Research and Demonstration Farm.  The field day will take place September 3rd at the south location of the Research Farm (1040 James Ave., Kanawha - which is about a mile south of Kanawha on county road R35).

You and your parents are invited to attend the Strengthening Families Program.  It's fun & free!  Evening meals are provided and free child care is provided for younger siblings.  Students receive $3 each week they attend.  This program has been successful over the past 10 years with more than 900 families participating from the Fort Dodge area.

Half a million visitors had the opportunity to visit "Camp Cy - a Statewide Adventure" during the Iowa State Fair Aug. 13-23. They could engage with camp staff about Iowa State University and the ways extension and outreach works in every Iowa county.
