Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide tools you need to take care of yourself.  If you take good care of yourself, you will be better prepared to take good care of your loved one. As a participant you will learn how to: reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources.

 


Jr. Camp 2014 - for 4, 5, 6 graders, June 11, 12, and 13

Does swimming, hiking (even at night), climbing wall, and cooking over a campfire sound like fun?  Then Junior 4-H Camp is the place for you! Located at the State 4-H Camping Center near Madrid, IA. Meet other 4-H’ers from Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt and Wright counties.Registration and Health Forms are due by May 15 but this camp has limited space so sign up now.

 


Statewide 4-H Photo Camp at the Iowa 4-H Center

Young people grades 7-12 in the 2013-14 school year have the opportunity to participate in 4-H PHOTO CAMP in Elm Village at the Iowa 4-H Center near Madrid.  Campers will learn all about PHOTOGRAPHY, Photo Shop Elements, participate in a day long hands on photo shoot at a different location and will live in a camp community for three days and two nights.   Send as many campers from your county as you like—until all the beds are full, of course.  The dates are June 16-18.  Cost for this camp is $180 prior to May 1st – Late FEE  $200 after May 1st.  Registration forms are posted on line website: http://www.extension.iastate.edu/hamilton/page/member-info  That website also has a link to a flyer that you can use to promote the camp.   Contact Dave Entriken for more information (dfe1943@yahoo.com). 

 


 

Money Smart Week:  Want to brush up on your Money Smart skills?  Take the time to check out all the free events happening in our community and around the region the week of April 5th-12th.  A Poster Contest for kids, a first ever "Fortune by Forty" kick off event, a series of Come and Go Sessions at Crossroads Mall, and many more!

 

 


 

Your Money Your Future:  It’s your money, and how you use it affects every part of your life. On Wednesdays April 9 and 16 from 3:30-5 p.m. a free workshop offers the opportunity to build money skills that will help your life go more smoothly this week, this month, and further down the road.“Your Money Your Future” sessions will be informal and practical, with time for questions and discussion. 

 

 


Strengthening Families Program is for all parents and youth in 6th grade for the Fort Dodge community schools.  This is a fun and effective prevention program aimed to reduce youth problem behaviors, involves parent and middle school youth to enhance parenting skills and strengthen families.  To join our upcoming January classes, please complete the registration form and send to sschill@iastate.edu

 


The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is a FREE program available to families in Webster County to help parents provide nutritious food for their families, leading to healthy children and strong families. The program also helps youth make choices for better health.  Family Nutrition Program (FNP) staff work with pregnant teens, families with young children and youth. Program staff meet with participants one-on-one and in small groups. Lessons are selected depending on the needs and wants of the participants. The lessons include activities, worksheets, games, and cooking.
