North Central Iowa CWF 2014





Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth, grades 10 – 12, from across the country.  Every summer nearly 1,500 young people stay at the National 4-H Conference Center, near Washington, D.C., to participate in this week-long program.  (Click HERE for informational Flyer.) 


Over 40  4-H Youth from Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, and Wright counties will have the opportunity to attend this leadership program. Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events.

This year's Citizen Washington Focus trip is available to 4-Her's in Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, and Wright counties who are currently in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.  


Schedule Highlights

Friday:  Travel from Iowa                                                                                                                                    

Saturday:  Travel day and stop at Gettysburg

Sunday:  Getteysburg Battefield and Museum and arrival at National 4-H Center for CWF

Monday:  Mount Vernon, Iwo Jima Memorial and Nightview of Washington D.C.

Tuesday:  Arlington National Cemetary and FDR Memorial

Wednesday:  Capitol Hill, Union Station, Twighlight Tattoo

Thursday:  National Cathedral or Smithsonian Zoo and Dinner Theater

Friday:  National Mall and Memorial Park, Smithsonian Museum and Holocaust Museum

Saturday:  Start the two day return travel trip.  Stop at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sunday:  Arrive home about 8PM


Trip Orientation

Orientation will take place on Sunday March 23, 2014~3pm at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach-Webster County office.      



The cost of the trip is $1,500.  This pays for all lodging, travel, tours, and a majority of your meals.  The registration deadline is November 15, 2013.  Deposit payments are due:

  • November 15, 2013 - $400, along with the completed registration application
  • January 15, 2014 - $400
  • March 23, 2014 - $400
  • May 1 - $300

*check with your county concerning financial assistance, payment plans may be set up.
