Youth Learn About Farm Safety through Progressive Agriculture Safety Day

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day was held on Saturday, September 20, at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The camp was held by the Washington County Extension Office, Washington FFA, Mid-Prairie FFA, Washington Hospital and Clinics, Washington Ambulance, Farmers Implement, and the Bows & Bullets 4-H Club.

The FDIC has a warning about crooks who call or e-mail consumers and pretend to be legitimate companies or government agencies wanting people to "verify" or "resubmit" (divulge) confidential information such as bank account or credit card numbers as well as Social Security numbers, passwords and personal identification numbers.

Local 4-H’er Uses 4-H Skills to Help Tornado Victims

When Elley Neuzil heard of the devastation, destruction, and heartache from the May tornado in Parkersburg, Iowa, she knew she wanted to help those affected. Neuzil, a Washington County 4-H’er, took the leadership skills she has gained through 4-H and organized a benefit auction to help those in Parkersburg.
Lease Meeting Handouts Available

With higher grain prices and increasing land values, farm leases are a point of concern for landowners and producers. Rental rates are being reviewed. Iowa State University Extension has held a number of lease meetings across the state to help people make well informed decisions. Handouts are available from the lease meetings.

Estimating Pre-Harvest Yields
