Mark the dates June 11-19, 2010, for a great opportunity to visit Washington DC. This trip is for 4-H’ers in grades 10-12.
Some of the places you will visit include, Gettysburg, Mount Vernon, the war and presidential memorials, and the Smithsonian museums. Delegates will spend an evening at the Kennedy Center and tour the Holocaust Museum. There will be an opportunity to visit the nation’s capitol and meet the people who represent Iowa. At the National 4-H Center, where you will be staying, delegates will hear motivational speakers, attend workshops and assemblies and make lasting friendships during the social events.
The bus will leave from Ottumwa, making tentative stops in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa City and Davenport. On the way out they will stop in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The cost for the trip is $1100.00. There will most likely be some financial assistance from Washington County Extension Council. The exact amount is not yet determined, we will keep you informed of this amount. Additional payments of $500 are due on February 1st & April 1st.
Washington County is able to send 2 delegates. Registrations need to be received by November 27th along with $100 non-refundable deposit. Since spots are limited applications are taken on a first come first serve basis, contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319/653-4811 to sign up.
