Barn quilts will be gracing barns and outbuildings in Washington County by summer's end. Washington County is the first county in southeast Iowa to tackle this project. Mary Chmelar and Kathy Ebert showed an example of a barn quilt at a recent Lions Club meeting. A sample has been made for display purposes.
It is expected that four driving loops will be organized in Washington County. All loops will pass through the city of Washington. This is a four year project.
The committee is partnering with the Washington Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee and Washington County Extension. They are looking for many individuals and groups to help with the project, whether through cash
donations, committee work, or as volunteers (block painters).
