conference

The date has been set for the 2008 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, Animal Science ROUNDUP, and CSI: Crops.  From June 24-26, over 1000 youth from across the state are expected to attend this annual event held at Iowa State University.  This year’s theme is “Ignite the Flame.”

Conference participants will be involved in many activities including workshops, motivational speakers, community service projects, dances, and many other fun activities.  Animals Science ROUNDUP participants will be involved in workshops with beef, dairy, sheep, horse, and swine, as well as many of the activities with conference.  CSI: Crops participants will use the latest electronic devices and tools to solve insect disease, weed, and plant growth problems as well as participate in many other conference activities.

The conference is open to all youth in grades 8-12.  It is not limited to only 4-H’ers.  This is a great opportunity for youth to meet new friends, gain new skills and knowledge through hands-on experiences and have fun.

The cost of this conference is $120.  Washington County will pay $25 for the first 10 youth who register.  Registration is due to the Washington County Extension Office by May 15.  For more information contact, Kati Peiffer, at the Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811.
