The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is the lead agency responding to avian influenza in Iowa. Washington County 4-H has had both state and national level success in the livestock judging project area.  All 4-H’ers are invited to be a part of this project.  This project allows livestock exhibitors to learn more about their species.  It’s a great place for beginning showman to meet others who show. Click here for flyer.

The Washington County Extension Office will again host their annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day.   The camp will be held on Thursday, June 4,  9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds.  The cost is $10 per child and includes t-shirt, goody bag, snacks, and safety information.

Rates for custom machine work and services are showing a steady increase again for 2015, according to the 2015 Iowa Farm Custom Rate Survey. The service categories that were surveyed include information on tillage, planting, spraying, harvesting and hauling grain and forages. Click here for survey.

Washington County Extension will reshow the Manure Applicator Programs on the first Friday of each month for those that were unable to attend a workshop. If you need to schedule a reshow at any other time, you will be charged a $10 fee per person.
