4-H Fire Up to be held Feb. 12th

Let's get fired up about 4-H! This year's 4-H Fire up will be held Sunday, Feb. 12th from 2:00-4:00pm. This is an excellent time for youth and parents to learn more about 4-H and grow together.

Two Programs For Sheep Producers

Sheep producers and agri-business staff are invited to attend two programs focusing on sheep nutrition and production. The programs will be February 15 in Washington and rural Keota.

The Washington County Master Gardeners are offering a $500 scholarship to a deserving Washington County resident pursuing a horticultural related degree or certificate from a college or university in the state of Iowa.

Become A “Master of the Showring”. This is a great educational opportunity for kids showing cattle and hogs. This will be held on March 4, 2012, at Blackhawk Community College, in Kewanee, IL.

Winter Beach Party for Clover Kids

Although Winter seems slow to hit the Washington County area this year, the 4-H program is busy planning a special Winter Beach Party for Clover Kids and their friends. It will be a busy afternoon of snacks, crafts, music, games, and prizes straight from the beach!

A national animal identification system is necessary to help protect American animal agriculture from disease threats. The ability to find potentially sick or exposed animals early in a disease outbreak is essential to controlling the outbreak quickly.
