It’s hard to talk about passing on the farm.  “Managing for Today and Tomorrow” is for farm women of all ages who want to plan now for a successful transition later.  Through this five-session program, farm women will learn about the four components that create a successful transition – succession, business, estate and retirement planning.  Click here for flyer.

The popular Cornbelt Cow-Calf Conference has provided timely, accurate and important information to Iowa’s beef cattle industry for more than 40 years. People can attend the Jan. 31 event at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa free of charge thanks to a cooperative effort with KIIC Radio.  The station will hold its Second Annual Regional Farm Show on Friday afternoon and the cow-calf event will take place on Saturday as it has in years past.  Download the conference brochure at www.iowabeefcenter.org/events/2015CCCC.pdf

Washington 4-H County Council will host a special Winter Wonderland Father Daughter Dance open to the public for any kindergarten-fourth grade girl and the special man in her life.  Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, neighbors, etc are welcome to attend as the adult guest.  This evening of dancing and games will be held Jan. 31 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in Dallmeyer Hall – lower level on the fairgrounds.  Special guest, Elsa, from Frozen will be attending. Click here for registration form.

 Iowa dairy producers have the opportunity to learn about emerging dairy industry issues at the 2015 ISU Extension Dairy Days hosted by Iowa State University Extension specialists.   Dairy Days will be held in Kalona on February 3 at the KCTC Community Room (former Chamber of Commerce) at 514 B Avenue in Kalona.  The program runs from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.  Click here for brochure and flyer.

Washington County 7th-9th  grade 4-H’ers are invited to attend Region 15 4-H Intermediate Trip to Omaha, Nebraska, March 13-14.  Overnight will be spent at the Henry Doorly Zoo with the penguins after enjoying a night hike and behind the scenes tour.   4-H’ers will visit the Strategic Air & Space Museum to learn about past, present and future aircraft.  They will also visit the Durham Museum and then end the trip with a high energy visit to the indoor trampoline park Defy Gravity which includes dodgeball and laser maze.  Click here for registration form.
