The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is the lead agency responding to avian influenza in Iowa. ISU Extension and Outreach will continue to be involved in the response. The College of Veterinary Medicine has posted resources at http://vetmed.iastate.edu/aiv-background-and-resources.

Canning season will soon be here andWashington County Extension is offering testing of dial gauge pressure canners.  Pressure canners with a dial-type pressure gauge should be tested each year for accuracy.  Canner lids will be tested from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on June 9 and June 23.

Washington County 4-H has had both state and national level success in the livestock judging project area.  All 4-H’ers are invited to be a part of this project.  This project allows livestock exhibitors to learn more about their species.  It’s a great place for beginning showman to meet others who show. Click here for flyer.
