Extension Publication Gives Tips for Pruning Raspberries

AMES, Iowa – Gardeners can learn how to properly prune raspberries with Pruning Raspberries (RG 501), an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach publication.

There are several types of raspberries, and each type has its own pruning requirements. The publication, written by Richard Jauron, ISU Extension horticulturist, outlines proper pruning practices for red, yellow, purple and black raspberries and lists the tools needed to prune raspberries.

“Knowing how to properly prune your raspberries is very important,” said Jauron. “By properly pruning raspberries, gardeners can obtain maximum yields and control diseases.”
