4-H Message

Iowa 4-H is the youth education progarm of Iowa State University Extension.  It's for youth who are in grades 4-12.  Members live all over Warren  County, in towns, on farms and on acreages.  4-H is a great opprotunity for youth to explore their interests through hands-on learning.  There are over 60 different project areas including: computers, photography, woodworking, food and nutrition, wildlife, drawing, painting, etc.  Youth can participate in club meetings, trips, camps, and much more!

There are a few easy steps to becoming a Warren County 4-Her.

1.  First, you will need to pick a 4-H club to join. There are 19 4-H Clubs in Warren County  for families to choose from. Take a look at the clubs in your community.  Consider where and when a club meets and how that will work for your family.  Visit the clubs that you are interested in. Make sure to call ahead before you attend a meeting to let the leader know you’ll be coming and to make sure that the meeting date or time hasn’t been changed for a special event.

2.  Once you've selected a club, let the club leader know you plan to join.  He or she will be able to provide you with enrollment materials (see below).

3.  Fill out the 4-H Enrollment Form , the Medical Form and sign the Iowa Youth Code of Ethics. Return them both to your club leader or to the Extension Office.

4. Pick your Projects.  There are over 60 project areas to choose from!  Use the Pick a Project Paper  to help you decide which projects you would like to enroll in.  If you need help selecting your projects, call  the Extension Office at 961-6237 or e-mail at amblake@iastate.edu

5.  Read the 4-H Family Newsletter.  Everything you need to know is in the 4-H Horizons.  The office uses the newsletter as a major form of communication with families.
