Beef/hay producers are invited to attend a pasture walk, scheduled for Thursday, September 12th at the Jerry and Sandy McLain farm near Milton.
Topics at the pasture walk include planning a paddock grazing system, water systems, planning forages, and managing potential ergot issues.
Speakers slated for the seminar include Byron Leu, Iowa State University Livestock Specialist (Retired); Mark Carlton,Iowa State University Field Agronomist; David Otte, Green Valley Seed, and Jerry and Sandy McLain operators.
The pasture walkbegins at 5:30 p.m. and will include a meal, served by the Blazing Trails 4-H Club. There will be a $5.00 registration fee, and attendees should RSVP by calling (319)293-3039. RSVP deadline is September 10th.
Directions: Turn south of Milton onto Hwy V56. Go south on blacktop about 1 ½ miles to the 5th house. House is on the east side of the road. Immediately south of the house, take the lane going east. Signs will be posted.
