Area of Expertise: Don Hofstrand is an extension value-added agriculture specialist for Iowa State University and co-director of the AgMRC. He works with start-up value-added business ventures and is a frequent speaker on value-added agriculture.

Hofstrand was involved in the creation of Ag Ventures Alliance. The mission of the 1,100-member organization is to facilitate the development of value-added business ventures. Ag Ventures Alliance has worked with Golden Oval Eggs, Midwest Grain Processors and other value-added businesses. He is also involved in the development of Innovative Growers, a farmer-owned company that produces specialty grains, and U.S. Ag Producers Alliance, a Midwest alliance of farmer alliances.

Additional Biographical Information: Don has B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University and a M.B.A. degree in agribusiness management from Iowa State University.
