: Daniel Burden is Program Coordinator of International and Special Projects. He works with producer groups, entrepreneurs, and state and federal agencies, and also works as a commodity and business-development specialist in the areas of oilseed and biomass utilization, aquaculture, specialty crops and agri-tourism. He is a regular contributor to the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center (AgMRC), and actively manages and participates in various state, national and international development projects.

Mr. Burden holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington, and has a Master of Science Degree from ISU in Entomology. Recently, he began a course of study toward a Graduate Certificate in Advanced International Affairs Degree from The (G.H.W.) Bush School for Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. His employment history includes being a research technician for the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, Olympia, Washington; and a former advertising, public relations and market research employee of CMF&Z (Creswell, Munzel, Fultz and Zirbel), a Division of Young & Rubicam, Des Moines, IA. He has worked for both the Overseas Division (now the International Division) of Pioneer Hi-Bred Int., Inc., Johnston, IA, as well as the Plant Breeding Division. In 1990, Mr. Burden joined ISU with the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR) before joining VAAP and AgMRC in July 2002. In 2006, he became a founding Partner with responsibilities for strategic planning and development in a start-up venture to develop and market a small-scale ultra-efficient technology system for the production of food- and feed-grade soy and canola meal and soy- and canola-based bio-diesel fuel.
