Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are replenished naturally. In 2008, about 19% of global energy consumption came from renewable sources. Global efforts to increase energy consumption from renewable energy has increased as a result of an increasing desire to lessen dependence on foreign oil.
