Planned 2012 Iowa Annie's Classes
Managing for Today and Tomorrow
Farm women can have a key role in successful farm transitions. Creating a transition plan to ensure that a farm continues as a productive, agricultural business can be challenging. Managing for Today and Tomorrow, a four-session course offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, takes some of the challenge out of the process by teaching farm women about succession, business, estate and retirement planning. Sessions are taught by Extension specialists and local professionals, and include time to network with other participants. Besides brief presentations, there are discussions based on participant questions and follow-up activities for family members to complete at home. The course is being offered in both Ames and Shenandoah, on Monday evenings from February 27 to March 19, 2012. Managing for Today and Tomorrow is supported by the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Agriculture, USDA, Grant # 2011-49400-30584 and Farm Credit Services of America.
