Marketscore blocking begins

Beginning today (March 8th), ISU has begun blocking computers which are routing sensitive data through Marketscore. Details can be found here.

Marketscore claims to give you faster access and virus protection in exchange for monitoring your computer's network traffic. One practical aspect of this is that secure information (social security numbers, credit card numbers, passwords) is decrypted and processed as plain text making you vulnerable to identity theft and misuse of your personal data.

To determine if a computer has Marketscore, visit:

https://asw.iastate.edu/cgi-bin/acropolis/user/computers/marketscore/

Removal instructions can be found at http://blocked.iastate.edu/-reject-/marketscore.html. In addition, beginning today any computer which tries to access a secure ISU site (webmail, Access Plus, WebCT, etc) will be redirected to the removal instructions.

If you need to remove Marketscore or have other questions, you can contact the hotline at 515-294-1725 or via email at eit@iastate.edu.
