Nitrogen management, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in agriculture and efficient fuel use on the farm will highlight the spring field day of the Iowa State University Northern Research Farm June 26 at the south location of the ISU Northern Research Farm, one mile south of Kanawha.

The Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy sets ambitious goals for keeping agricultural nutrients out of the state’s waterways. To reach the reduction targets, Iowa farmers and their advisers will have to work together to improve nutrient management strategies, according to a new Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll report.

Rental rates for Iowa farmland decreased moderately in 2014 according to results from a survey carried out by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. This is the first decrease shown by the annual survey since 1999. The cash rental rates survey results are available in the ISU Extension and Outreach publication Cash Rental Rates for Iowa 2014 Survey.
