Donna Donald, Iowa State University Extension family life field specialist, says children will develop observation skills, reduce stress levels, increase attention span, and develop nurturing skills as they explore nature. She offers suggestions for adults to offer opportunities for children to spend time outdoors.

Keeping Your Marriage Strong in Stressful Times

Iowa State University research on strong marriages suggests that men and women truly can vary in the ways they handle highly stressful times. “Don’t give up on your spouse because he or she acts differently than you. Instead, look at the many ways that differences can strengthen your relationship,” says Donna K. Donald, Iowa State University Extension family life field specialist. “You can use the differences in your couple relationship to help you handle stressful times.”

Making Work Pay May Impact Your Tax Return

Making Work Pay is the new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provision that will result in less federal income tax withholding in your paycheck beginning in April. The added amount in your paycheck may result in tax return changes when you file for the 2009 and 2010 tax years.
