Food Safety Quality Assurance for Tama County 4-Her's Dates. To be held at Hawkeye Lab Farms in the Fennemann Building.

The Iowa State University Agronomy Club is excited to announce a new and educational opportunity for middle school 4-Hers grades 4-8 who are interested in agriculture and agronomy. Together with the staff and professors of the Iowa State University Agronomy Department, the club will be hosting a fun-filled interactive day full of demonstrations by world renowned ISU Agronomy faculty and teaching assistants, a career fair with companies in agricultural industries, a lunch and a raffle. The day will focus on many important areas such as weeds, seeds, crops, weather and soil. This event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Ames at Agronomy Hall. We are asking for $5 per attendee to help cover the cost of lunch and one t-shirt per person. Please contact the Tama County Extension and Outreach office for more details and registration forms.

20 lucky participants selected to attend the 5 species tracks (Beef, Dairy Cattle, Horse, Sheep, Swine). Applications are due online by March 1. Selected youth will be notified around April 1. Those not selected can still attend the regular State 4-H Youth Conference delegation. APPLY NOW!

Jennifer Hulme started her duties as the ISU/Tama County Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator on Monday January 19. The last two years she has served as abstractor and accountant for the Tama County Abstract Company. Prior to that, she spent twelve years at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly developing and organizing junior and high school activities, as well as training their volunteers. A Tama County native, Jennifer was a very active long-time 4-H member and spent a few summers as an intern in the county office assisting with the 4-H and youth program. This past year she took charge of the 4-H Youth Council and helped prepare and implement their activities at the Tama County Fair. She has also assisted with the leadership responsibilities of the Clutier Cowboys and Cowgirls 4-H Club of which her two children are members.
